Aneurysm surgery.the newest hope for dificult avm's

by p.hanaburgh 23. October 2009 07:56
I have been living with a large avm.aneurysm.I saw many doctors after my initial rupture that caused a severe stroke and changed my life forever.living with this time bomb for two and a half years post rupture, has placed a strain on my wife Paola and my kids. I felt like it would be OK if I kept my blood pressure in check.1and1/2 years after my stroke I started having seizures, that developed into Epilepsy.Common after stroke and other brain trauma.I had a severe knock down type seizure in Church 4 weeks ago.I was taken to the hospital and had aC.T. MY EIGHTH since the initial. My neuro surgeon wanted to do another angiogram to check the status. He wasn't happy with the condition of the vessel. He told us of a new procedure using Stents in the brain.I agreed to the surgery and had it done on 9-30-09 I was in preop at 9:30 AM for surgery.the Dr. placed 4 stents in the artery and finished in 2 1/2 hours.1 day recovery in ICUand walked out at 4PM the next day.this is cutting edge procedure with no cutting.all of it done from the groin, femoral artery to the brain.I am now feeling more clarity in my thinking and hoping for what ever may come my way.Health Park Hospital in Ft. Myers Fl.You have given me the chance to live again, without that nagging thought of another stroke. Thanks to you all.My friends

stroke support for survivors family and caregivers

by p.hanaburgh 10. March 2009 22:15
Hi. my name is Philip Hanaburgh.I am a stroke survivor.I live in Cape Coral Florida.on May 23, 2007 I woke up completely paralyzed on my left side.I went to bed like anyother night, believeing that I would get up the next morning like I had for 50 years and go about my business.not a worry. My stroke started when an aneurysm in my brain was disturbed by a tiny clot in my body flowing through and breaking apart a small piece that started a small bleed on the right side of my brain. The aneurysm was and still is inoperable.I have spent the last two years recovering what evr I could. I am not complaining, because I was one of the lucky ones that gets a chance to try again.I believe that my time wasn't up and that the good lord has other plans for me.I had no clue that stroke was so prevalent and the damage it causes to entire families of the afflicted person, both the deceased and survivors.after the stroke I searched for answers and found only medical related books for reasons and prevention. I wanted something that would let me know what I had coming in the way of living, getting better there were a few books written by Dr's in the field that explained things, but they alwaysmade me think, how could they really know without experienceing one themselves? That was when I came up with the idea.I needed to write down  my experience from start to 18 months post stroke. There was so much to say,but I am a contractor, not a writer.I figured if I could survive a stroke ,I could write a book.for me; I started with the title. Are you Ready? I was not ready for this in any manner, shape,or form.I surmised that no one is really ready for a medical tradgedy.I hope when they read my book .it will make them think about it a little closer. there are so many things we have put off for later, insurances, wills, living wills, power of attorney. things you think you will never need. the truth is when you do need them it's when you aren't ready My book will be available in 2 weeks. you can go to my web page at www.philiphanaburgh.com and click on the Amazon.com link I am very new to blogging and would like for this to be an information  place on anything to help with Care giving. phisical therapy.and any other issue someone needs answers to. so please feel free to join in and help or ask questions and I will work on getting answers for you.
